    History of AMRTS

    Post  Methuselah96 on Mon Jan 31, 2011 8:55 pm

Pandemic Studios was made when some employees from Activision. They got off to a good start by making sequels to two of Activision games, Battlezone and Dark Reign. Then 3DO hired Pandemic Studios to make Army Men RTS to try to keep from bankruptcy, but they went bankrupt anyway. Pandemic Studios was based off the same engine as Dark Reign 2, but it was not nearly as well developed, even leaving out mod support so they could get done before the deadline. Dark Reign 2 came with .zwp files which could be unpacked with an unpacker that came with the game. Army Men RTS was also make with .x files which were packed the same way as .zwp. {SC} Sphinx is most likely to have known one of the makers of Army Men RTS whom he got the studio from. Sphinx also created the multiplayer trainer and instant build trainer. {OMC} Stormer, aka Shaun Lee Jones, was also another person who most likely started as a Dark Reign 2 player and switched to Army Men RTS, and already had the unpacker and so was able to make the first HQ skin change in AMRTS. He was also most likely the first person to edit a map. E]x[F Sniper also edited maps and for many years they were probably the only two people who could edit maps. Then I came along...

if any of this information is wrong please tell me but im pretty sure all of its right

Hi, Im glad to see this game still being played. it was a great game.I just wanted to point out that i never played DR at all. I was interested in the editing of AMRTS. I was playing the game a lot and then the cheaters emerged!. A chap called Daniel, was lets say "Disliked" to be kind. Gamespy asked me to create a ant-cheat patch to stop the cheating which i did and it was made mandatory on all stats. ( I included a small change in the stats image to allow GS to spot the old version with the new ant-cheat updated version. it was fun. So whilst i had access to the game etc i got a little creative!!.Im a network engineer so it wasnt my thing realy, but still loved doing it! Glad your all still at it, keep up the good work!!
